About
Kayla Staley graduated from Texas Tech School of Law in 2022. Ever since she was a little girl, she knew she wanted to be a lawyer. Before law school, Kayla studied philosophy and Spanish at Texas A&M University. Her experience as a philosophy student has enabled her to think critically about different issues. While at the Texas Tech School of Law, Kayla competed in state and national moot court competitions. In two years, she won first place in the Texas Young Lawyers Association State Moot Court Competition, the New York City Bar 72nd National Moot Court Competition, and the Notre Dame National Appellate Advocacy Tournament for Religious Freedom. She was named the second-best advocate in the country in 2022 during the 72nd National Moot Court Competition. She also was selected as a Teaching Fellow for the Legal Practice course based on her performance with legal research and writing.
After graduating from the Texas Tech School of Law, Kayla became a felony prosecutor in the 106th Judicial District of Texas, which spans Dawson, Gaines, Garza, and Lynn counties. There, she learned the ins-and-outs of the courtroom. Kayla joined King Law, P.C. in May of 2023 and has been zealously advocating for her clients since. She credits her skill and knowledge of advocacy to Texas Tech Law, and she now gives her time to coaching and judging the same competitions she competed in. She is a member of the Order of the Barristers, a prestigious organization for the top advocates in law school across the country. She serves as a director of the Lubbock Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (LCDLA) and is an active member in the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA).
Kayla enjoys spending time with her husband Brandon and her three dogs. She plays guitar, piano, ukulele, and sings. If she's not in court or at the office, she's probably at King Louie's playing pool or hitting golf balls at the Range.
