About
Kayla Staley graduated from Texas Tech School of Law in 2022. Ever since she was a little girl, she knew she wanted to be a lawyer. Before law school, Kayla studied philosophy at Texas A&M University. Her experience as a philosophy student has enabled her to think critically about different issues. While at the Texas Tech School of Law, Kayla competed in various state and national moot court competitions. In two years, she won first place in the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) State Moot Court Competition, the New York City Bar 72nd National Moot Court Competition, and the Notre Dame National Appellate Advocacy Tournament for Religious Freedom. She was named the second-best advocate in the country in 2022 during the 72nd National Moot Court Competition. Because of her success as an advocate, Kayla was inducted into the National Order of the Barristers, a prestigious organization reserved for those who demonstrate exceptional skill in advocacy.
After graduating from the Texas Tech School of Law, Kayla became a felony prosecutor in the 106th Judicial District of Texas, which spans Dawson, Gaines, Garza, and Lynn counties. There, she learned the ins-and-outs of the courtroom. Kayla joined King Law, P.C. in May of 2023 and has been zealously advocating for her clients since. She credits her skill and knowledge of advocacy to Texas Tech Law, and now gives her time to coaching and judging the same competitions she competed in. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA) and the local organization, the Lubbock Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (LCDLA). She is also a director in the Lubbock Area Bar Association.
Kayla's passion is to defend the accused. She is ready to assist you with any criminal accusation you may be facing.
